Volunteer Administrator – Volunteer Opportunity
If you are organised, approachable and enjoy helping others, this could be a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference. We are looking for a friendly Volunteer Administrator to support our hospice teams with a range of important administrative tasks. In this role, you will help things run smoothly behind the scenes so that colleagues can continue providing compassionate care and support to patients and the people closest to them.
About the role
As a Volunteer Administrator, you will be part of a caring and supportive team, helping with day-to-day administration that contributes to the effective running of hospice services. You will be working on a laptop for the majority of your session, supporting accurate record keeping, updating information, retrieving and documenting voicemail messages, and assisting colleagues with system‑based tasks. The role may also include filing, photocopying, and organising resources. Whether you can offer a few hours on a regular basis or bring previous administration experience to share, your time and skills will be greatly valued.
What you'll do
- Support colleagues and volunteers with a range of administrative tasks.
- Manage computer‑based records accurately and efficiently using hospice systems and databases.
- Retrieve and document voicemail and assist with incoming telephone queries.
- Use email and digital tools to communicate and update information.
- Assist with occasional office tasks such as organising resources or preparing materials.
- Support monitoring of supplies and equipment as needed.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with people across the hospice.
What we're looking for
- A warm, reliable and helpful approach.
- Good organisation and attention to detail.
- Confidence using computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email and online databases.
- Ability to work comfortably on a laptop for most of the session.
- Previous administrative experience ideally in a computer‑based or office setting.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- A willingness to work as part of a team and follow hospice policies and procedures.
- A Basic DBS check will be required for this role and will be arranged by the hospice.
Why volunteer with us
- Be part of something special within your local community.
- Use your skills to support compassionate end-of-life care.
- Gain experience, meet new people and make a meaningful contribution.
- Join a values-led organisation built on compassion, integrity, respect and teamwork.
- Receive training and support to help you feel confident in your role.
Volunteers are at the heart of our hospice, and every contribution helps us support more people in our community. If you would like to give your time in a role that is practical, rewarding and genuinely appreciated, we would love to hear from you.
