Family Session Volunteer

Could you help create a safe, welcoming and nurturing space for children and families?

We are looking for kind, reliable and compassionate volunteers to support our family sessions. This rewarding role involves working alongside staff to help prepare activities, welcome families, and support children and parents during their time with us.

About the role

As a Family Session Volunteer, you will be part of a supportive team helping families feel comfortable, included and cared for. You may help set up creative, outdoor or practical activities, offer a warm welcome, support children during activities as guided by staff, and help tidy away at the end of the session.

What you will be doing

  • Helping staff prepare and set up family session activities.
  • Welcoming children, young people and families in a friendly and sensitive way.
  • Supporting families during sessions, following guidance from the session lead.
  • Encouraging children and families to take part in activities at their own pace.
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe and inclusive environment.
  • Assisting with clearing away and tidying the space after sessions.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is warm, patient, reliable and non-judgemental.
  • Ideally has had previous experience working with children and young people
  • Enjoys being around children and families.
  • Can listen well and respond with kindness and sensitivity.
  • Is happy to follow guidance from staff and work as part of a team.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, boundaries and safeguarding.
  • Is willing to complete induction, training and any required checks.

Time commitment

We welcome volunteers who can be available on the last Saturday of the month from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
